How to make an iPad stand for Video Conferencing

In order to look good in video calls, make the effort to place the camera at eye level.  One of the universal “no no’s” is to have the camera positioned low & looking straight up your nose.

There are many way to achieve this, such as placing your Laptop on a box, propping up an iPad with books , or buying a iPad stand.

A simple solution using something you may already have lying around is to re-purpose an old computer monitor stand. I had one left over from an old 17″ monitor. Attach some rare earth (strong) magnets to the steel mounting face of the computer stand, & a small steel plate to the back of you iPad. You can get these parts when you purchase a cheap magnetic smartphone mount for cars. My mount has a sticky rubber mat (again designed for holding smartphones) that protects the back of the iPad.
